At IMOP, we do more than supply spare parts for hydraulic breakers: we also manufacture key components for large breakers, including cylinders (barrels), pistons and front heads. This is a solution when one of these components is damaged and no replacement is available, the lead time is too long or the cost of the original part does not make sense.
This month, we manufactured a cylinder for a Furukawa F70 hydraulic breaker, one of the heavy models in Furukawa’s F series, designed for demanding demolition, mining and quarrying work.
The Furukawa F70 in figures
| Compatible excavator | Approximately 44 to 70 t |
|---|---|
| Operating weight | Approx. 4,670 kg for the F70 Qt version; includes working tool and universal top cap according to the FRD USA data sheet |
| Working tool diameter | 180 mm |
| Oil flow | 250 to 340 l/min |
| Impact rate | 250 to 320 blows/min |
Specifications may vary by version and equipment. The FRD USA data sheet gives the excavator carrier class as 48.5 to 77 U.S. short tons, equivalent to approximately 44 to 70 metric tonnes. Its weight figure includes the working tool and universal top cap.
Why manufacture a cylinder instead of replacing the breaker?
The cylinder is the body of the breaker: the piston moves inside it and transfers the blow to the working tool. When the cylinder is scored, seized or worn beyond its tolerances, the breaker can lose power, use more oil and develop leaks. Replacing a large breaker is a major investment. Manufacturing only the damaged part can get the breaker back to work for a fraction of that cost.
Parts we manufacture for large hydraulic breakers
- Cylinders or barrels, machined to measure and made to respect the tolerances of the assembly.
- Pistons, among the parts exposed to the greatest stress. Find out more on our page about hydraulic breaker pistons.
- Front heads, the lower part of the breaker that houses the bushings, wear plates and working tool retaining pins.

How we work
- We inspect the damaged part or the breaker measurements.
- We manufacture and machine the part to the tolerances needed for the piston and cylinder to work correctly together.
- We assemble and check the unit, together with any Furukawa spare parts it needs: seals, bushings, diaphragms or working tools.
Alongside Furukawa, we manufacture parts for large breakers from Atlas Copco, Krupp, Epiroc, Rammer and NPK. See our spare parts for Epiroc, Atlas Copco and Krupp breakers and NPK breakers. If you are not sure which part is causing the fault, see our hydraulic breaker troubleshooting guide.
Is your large breaker out of action?
Send us the make, model and a photo of the damaged part on WhatsApp. We will let you know whether we can manufacture it and the estimated lead time.
